First pair of merging stars destined to become supernova found |Astronomy.com


Supernova, the explosive death of a star. The remnants of this type of star death results in nebulae, or the celestial nurseries of newbie stars. Typically attributed to singular star processes, the idea that multiple stars could result in a Supernova was entirely theoretical. That is until recently,when the  astronomical community discovered two binary, massive White Dwarf stars with enough mass to create a hell of an explosion. According to scientists, in approximately 700 million years, these two stars will merge, creating a massive star that will eventually explode into the darkness of space. Check out the article on Astronomy Magazine online:
