5. One of my favorite anime movies has to be Spirited Away (2001) by Hayao Miyazaki.
Dude is seriously talented. This fantasy anime is wild and wacky with shadow
spirits and witches. The heroine and main character is Chiriru, a girl on a
quest to save her parents who have been cursed to live as pigs. Her journey
takes her to a bathhouse run by a creepy witch, she befriends a spider man, and
becomes friends with a colorful cast of characters. This is a must see film for
sure.
4. Princess Mononoke
(1997) ranks at four in this countdown of awesomeness. Massive wolves, forest spirits
and a kickass wolf girl. Wild and fantastical, this movie is also one of Hayao Miyazaki's
outstanding and artistic masterpieces. Action packed and riveting; a must see
flick.
3. Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (2000).
All I can say is Omg! Love this one. A story of a forbidden love, despair,
redemption, and badass action. Follow D in his journey to save a woman who
loves a misunderstood vampire. If you like strange and unusual, then this is
right up your alley. Can't hurt that D is cool as hell.
2. Nausicaa of the
Valley of the Wind (1984), another oldy by Hayao Miyazaki film, is rife
with unreal imagination. Dude went deep on this one. This movie is about fantastical beasts, poison forests, war and a prophecy charged heroine who doesn’t
give up. The story has a strong environmental message and is extremely engaging.
Love it.
1. Akira (1988)
tops the lists as one of the best anime of all time. Written and produced by Katsuhiro
Otomo, this is hands down one of the best sci-fi movies ever. Psychic powers,
action and a twisted future characterize this film, which also has the
ability to pull at your heart strings. It's one of those movies that no matter
how old and how many times you watch it, you never get tired of it.
Hope you guys enjoyed the top 5 pics for best animated sci-fi/fantasy
movies.
