Science fiction actors we want to see more of: Joe Flanigan

Joe Flanigan is what you could call a science fiction veteran. He spent five years on Stargate Atlantis, has guest starred on popular SyFy shows such as Fringe and Warehouse 13, and had leading roles on the made for television movies, Ferocious Planet and Thoughtcrimes. He's best known for his time on Stargate Atlantis, as the handsome, risk taking and lovable Colonel John Sheppard (fan girl sigh). A quick search of his name produces large quantities of fan fiction, some of which, um...can be quite steamy (Check out the fan fiction site WraithBait if that's your sort of deal).

His laid back portrayal of characters in science fiction and his ability to appear so damn down to earth is just one of the many reasons I would like to see  Flanigan in more science fiction work. His some what Kirk-like/surfer dude/lover boy portrayal of characters is, well, awesome. He would be perfect for something quirky, say like the Fifth Element. God knows we need more films like that, especially with all of the shit that has been coming out in the genre recently (don't get me started on Jupiter Ascending, argle bargle!). Hell, we need more Flanigans, just so we can sit down, enjoy some popcorn and watch some nerdy eye candy. Uh, huh!
