Farewell Mr Nimoy, Farewell!

Dear Mr. Nimoy,

You will be missed. From your Vulcan hand salute, to your Bilbo Baggins Ballad, you were an awesome actor and artist. When I first saw you, you were Mr. Spock, and I was just a little girl enjoying her first taste of science fiction with her Daddy. I thought you were so "cool" with your bowl-cut hair, pointy ears and logical ways!  I watched every Star Trek series ever made because of you, just to see if there were characters as rich and intriguing as your Mr. Spock. As a teenager, I aspired to be a scientist and a student of culture, eventually going to college to obtain degrees in Anthropology, Psychology and Astronomy. I'd like to think that watching you go where no one has gone before, had something to do with that. Nowadays, I watch Mr. Spock with my four year old son in hopes that he will become a bonafide Trekker/Trekkie. I think it's working because he wants to be an explorer on a starship.  It feels amazing to share my passion for Star Trek wih my son; it's almost like recreating the ritual I used to share with my dad. I know that you weren't Mr. Spock, but thank you for being  Mr. Spock, for opening a little girl's mind to the possibilities of space, culture, and geekiness. You sir, were a gem.
