Christopher Nolan's " Interstellar" finally has a trailer and it could be fantastic!

I think that Christopher Nolan is a fricken genius. His interpretation of the Batman series is spot on, and breathed new life into the Dark Knight. I've always thought that Nolan could be the director that is needed to catapult hard science fiction back into the entertainment scene. His movies are smart, sharp, dark, and melancholy, with action scenes that can be visually orgasmic. I know, I know, I'm laying it on a bit thick, but I really enjoy Nolan, which is why I'm pretty stoked on his trailer for Interstellar.

Interstellar stars Matthew McConaughey, which initially disturbed me until I watched him literally rock out as  Detective Rustin Spencer Cohle on HBO's True Detective. His protrayal of that character renewed my faith in his acting abilities, especially after his role in Magic Mike. Anyway, McConaughey plays a engineer/pilot on a mission to find the human race a new home and embarks on an interstellar journey utilizing wormholes. He has a family he left behind on Earth, which seems to be suffering from massive dust storms and the inability to produce crops.

The story itself is not unique as there have been numerous movies based on man's search for a new home. However, I would think that Nolan's gritty story telling ability and penchant for really showing casing technology, will make this film a pleasure to watch. I'm not getting chicken skin from the trailer, but knowing Nolan, who is notoriously secretive during production, there's going to be some inherent awesomeness showcased in this film. Check out the trailer and let me know what you think.

  1. My girlfriend and I really liked Interstellar! It had the right touch of science fiction and avoided predictable blockbuster attributes (sex scenes, unnecessary explosions, etc). Now we are watching Cosmos on Netflix because it peaked our interest in outer space. We'd love to hear what you thought of it!
