Images from the anticipated new Mad Max film; Fury Road. |
Mad Max is a classic for us folks obsessed with post-apocalyptic worlds. Mel Gibson basically made his career with the Mad Max Trilogies, which featured the brutalities of a world short on gas and nearly devoid of humanity. Blood and fire and wild automobile chases characterized the original movies, all of which had a surreal dusty quality to them. I typically have a fear of remakes, especially when the original movie was spectacular. I was horrified by the most recent interpretation of Total Recall, a staple in American cinema. But this Mad Max, which stars Tom Hardy (Bane in Batman: The Dark Knight Rises) and Charlize Theron (Prometheus), is directed by thee George Miller; the director who did the original movies in the trilogies. This is awesome, simply because Miller isn't some new buck that wants to redefine shit to showcase his talents. There is no need for a complete reinterpretation (like JJ Abrams with Star Trek), Miller, I think, will be able to bring that same quality that ravaged the big screens of the 1970's and 80's. I really like the casting direction that was taken for the new Mad Max film; Tom Hardy is somewhat a Veteran in science fiction (Star Trek and Batman) and the lovely Charlize Theron is an amazing actress in which I have sort of a fan boy crush. And the trailer, well see for yourself...Mad Max: Fury Road!
