47 Ronin is Freaking Me Out!

I love Keanu Reeves, really I do. I know that some people think that he is a total stoner dude with awkward acting skills and less than perfect people skills, and this might be true. However, Keanu Reeves has a quality to him that makes me want to watch him. From Johnny Mnemonic, to the Matrix, I have always appreciated Keanu as a science fiction actor. Yet, with all my love for Keanu, I am feeling disheartened after watching the preview for his new movie, 47 Ronin. There is just so much shit going on in the preview that I can't tell whether I am watching a preview about 47 masterless samurai or, a Chinese epic of sorts, or Pirates of the Caribbean! Sure, the cinematography looks great, the action looks non-stop and the Japanese legend its based on is AMAZING! But sadly, Keanu looks like he just rolled out of the bed, smoked a cigarette and walked onto set. What's up with the scruff? The bored expressions and, well, confusion on his face? No doubt he probably has issues with keeping up with the dialogue for this discombobulated mess of a film, which really scares me into thinking that we are definitely in for a dry spell in terms of Hollywood producing anything fantastic anytime soon. I was so excited for this year's movies, as well for some of the movies slated for release next year, but everything has been pretty disappointing for me. That's why I am praying to the Gods of Nerdom that they have mercy on Keanu Reeves and somehow make this film worth watching.Thoughts anyone?
