H.R. Giger and the Biomechanoids...

When I first saw the works of artist H.R. Giger, I fell into an abyss of absolute beautiful darkness. His work conveys a biologically filthy sense of outer-worldly surrealism. His musings hold a macabre quality, and twists into your subconscious much like the secondary mouth of the terrifying antagonists from Alien. I'm guessing that the painting above is starting to look pretty familiar to you by this point, especially after my last simile. If you haven't figured out why Giger's work looks so familiar, then think the Alien movie series. Giger's talent for the macabre was used to visualize Ridley Scott's and James Cameron's biomechanoids, instilling fear and reverence into sci-fi horror fans everywhere. Giger's work, however, extends beyond these Hollywood blockbusters. He first showcased his art in 1977 in a book entitled H.R. Giger's Necronomicon. His work is also showcased in several of his exclusive bars in Japan. Due to the dark nature of Giger's work, view at your own discretion and let me know what you think. Cheers!
